Prevent Those Irritating Bugs, Insects, and Pests From Obliterating Your Garden

By : Darren Lintern

After working hours on your garden preparing and planting your new vegetable patch only to discover those irritating pests move in and attempt to devastate what you have just been working so hard on. Bugs have the ability to spoil you newly planted vegetables within a period of only a few hours once they have set their sights on the fruits of your hard work.

The ideal way to control these insects is to keep them out of the garden to start with. There are a variety of bug repellent sprays that may be used to keep the insects away, but always take a moment to ensure theyre not dangerous to use.

Some of the insecticides can be unsafe to use if small children or the family pets are in close proximity. Ideally, you want to remove the majority of the bugs, but if some remain dont be concerned, as a few species of insects can actually be beneficial to the plant life.

Its important to note that not insects are bad for us. Some insects, such as dragonflies, spiders, ladybugs, and bees can be extremely helpful in curbing the numerous plant eating bugs found in the garden. They are in fact the best natural defence one could have in the garden.

By planting or placing pots of flowers, such as a yellow alyssum near to the infected plants, this will attract the ladybugs that will in turn get busy on the harmful insects. You can check you nearest garden nursery on more plants that attract the beneficial insects.

As many of the unwanted insects are generally attracted to piles of grass cuttings, leaves, and crowded spots or weeds, it is important to keep the garden clean. These bugs will flourish in these areas, so keep up with the weeding, and regularly remove any leaves and grass cuttings that make their way into your property.

A natural alterative to the harsh chemical pesticides is to spray the tops and undersides of leaves with hot pepper wax. The oils from the concentrated cayenne peppers, assorted repelling herbs and food grade paraffin wax wards off the destructive insects and other pests as well.

Every gardener wants to see their garden become fully established after the many hours and dedication put into it. No one wants to witness their labour simply go down the pan by losing their plants to those bothersome bugs, insects, and pests that move into your garden.

Prior to doing any new planting, take a moment to do a little research into the finest companion plants that have the ability to fend off those irritating insects, and the ones that attract the beneficial insects.
